birthday goings-on

swingchickielazy, lazy morning. took a long bubble bath, watched some TV and read magazines, played with angus. i met up with K for lunch, and it looks like we both had the same idea -- both of us brought 2 cupcakes to celebrate my birthday and her promotion. *chuckle* we had some nummy pork tacos and a cupcake each, and dished about work stuff (her promotion is a great opportunity for her, i'm so psyched). then because i had the whole afternoon and no cash, i decided to hit bloomie's to see if i could get something on the store gift card that's been burning a hole in my wallet.
bloomie's is an odd place for me. the stuff is so high-fashion a lot of times, that i can never justify spending my money in there. especially their shoes, bags and jewelry. but sometimes i have some luck with clothes, so i spent about 2 hours on the 2nd floor trying on anything i wanted, regardless of price. i actually found several cute things that fit great (minor miracle), and had them hold them overnight for me... i'd need them for work in a few weeks, and they're gorgeous pieces (all sigrid olsen *drool*)... i just need to figure out if i would wear them enough to justify spending almost $400 total. this is what i have on hold:
i LOVE the sweater-jacket and lace skirt from this... i'd probably wear it with a plain turtleneck, instead of the $120 shell pictured here...
i only have the sweater in this photo... it's great quality, i'm just wondering if i can find a similar one for half the price. but i love this too.
oh, and i bought (on the gift card) a long-wearing lipstick from the MAC counter. they're a million times better than the cheapier colorstay or lipfinity ones in the drugstore, especially the colors. i highly recommend.
when i got home, there was a lovely condolence card today from monkey's oncology team -- the oncology vet and her techs who were always there at my appointments. they each wrote the sweetest, most heartfelt things about getting to know monkey and how they were always so moved to see how much i loved her. it really warmed my heart. now i just need to get her ashes back, so i can have her with me and have that final bit of closure.
