best. saturday. EVAR.
Oct. 15th, 2005 01:37 pmslept in until 11 this morning, which is unheard of for me. guess it's 'cause i was out until 3am (more on that in a bit). now i have the whole day ahead of me to stay snuggled inside while it's cold and rainy outside, in my sweats and warm socks... with a just-delivered order of piping-hot wonton soup and shrimp chow mei fun... not to mention a stack of new beauty magazines and a scalding hot bubble bath in my immediate future. life is good. *grin*
so, last night. yesterday kelly and brian ("apoptosis" for all you swing folks) finally tied the knot! yay!
it was a lovely day, despite the torrential rain. the ceremony was at 1:30 at a church on harvard's campus... kelly and brian both looked stunning, the church was beautiful and the priest, besides being a bit of a camera nazi (he told us we couldn't even take pix with our phones, because they were paying a photographer good money to take pix so we shouldn't interfere... uh, okay...), gave a really cool homily about how marriage was like swing dancing. hee.
the reception wasn't until 7pm (you can bet i came home and took a massive nap), and the rain still hadn't let up. we all forgot about it by taking advantage of the open bar... it was so funny to see all the swing folks there, because a) we usually don't get dressed up when we dance, so a black-tie dress code looked foreign on everyone, and 2) we usually don't drink when we dance either, so there we were in gowns and suits with martinis and stuff and it just looked incredibly grown-up. *grin* the night was really fun, great meal and tons of dancing. and WOW, was it hard to "free dance", as i think someone called it... we were all so used to swing dancing, that moving without holding onto someone felt really odd!
so, photos...
our table with the groom

my 3rd amaretto sour of the night (you will notice that we haven't eaten dinner yet, oops)

the groom bustin' a move

man-on-man swing action!

one of john's attempts at breakdancing

i never thought a wedding dress like this would move so well... but when she danced, it looked like she was floating. it was gorgeous.

kelly talking with slick

after the reception (when they kicked us out of the hotel at 12:45am), we went down the street to the b-side lounge to continue the party...
slick finally settling in with a post-wedding-DJing manhattan

hawtness!

i found this vintage leopard jacket in my basement storage, 5 minutes before i walked out the door. totally forgot i owned it.
