the birthday loser
Sep. 29th, 2005 09:38 pmwent to dali (local awesome tapas place) for sangria with one of my girlfriends from work. she brought up my b-day party, and said it's become the talk of my district (yay!). then she asked what i was going to do for a cake... i told her that i had some great ideas, and that i was going to make one this weekend as a test. she was horrified that i'm making my own birthday cake... like if you make your own cake, it's kind of sad. my feeling is, i have very specific ideas about what i want... if i pay a bakery to do it, it's going to cost at least $300, which is crazy. i like to bake, i like to decorate cakes, and if i do it i can take the credit for it (a nice bonus)... plus if i'm throwing this party for my friends, why can't i do the cake as well?
am i a total loser if i do this, and i'm just not seeing it?
