happy valentine's day!
Feb. 14th, 2004 08:40 amhappy valentine's, everyone!
very tired today. part of me wants to go to the gym, but i am so beat... i think i'll wake up a bit more and take a walk instead. i need to get my ass in gear, it's been months since i went to the gym. and i've been craving chinese food like it's going out of style, i don't know what my problem is. literally, i've had chinese every day for about the past 2 weeks. wat up???
went to a show the other night with the b.f. it's an amazing musical called "the last 5 years". it was in new york a little over a year ago, and it's finally getting licensed out to theatres all over the country, so this was one of the first new productions of it. i've had the soundtrack since the show first opened, and i can't listen to it without bawling because there are parts that are so heartbreakingly sad. the show is about the 5 years of a couple's relationship, and their painful divorce... but it's structured in a really interesting way. throughout the show, they are each in a different place in the relationship... at the beginning of the show, he has just met her, and she is reeling from him leaving her. at the end, he has left her, and she is giddy from their first date. it sounds wierd, but it works really well. there's this one song that gets me every time, towards the end of the show... he's in bed, and wakes up and starts singing to her about how much he cares about her... then you realize he's not singing to his wife, he's singing to a woman he's cheated on her with. i sat there with huge hot tears streaming down my face, it was so sad.
of course seeing a musical about a couple's breakup didn't make me any cheerier about what the b.f. and i are going through. we're still in limbo. today we're celebrating valentine's day by going out to shoot pool, then we're having dinner at a local restaurant. i don't think this year will be full of romance. *sigh* actually, he did do a very sweet thing the other night, though -- he got to attend a lecture by the guy who wrote "the last 5 years", and since it's one of my favorite shows, he got the writer's autograph for me. the b.f. is the last one to ask anyone for an autograph, so i know that was a big thing for him to do. sometimes, out of nowhere, he is so sweet... it's just a shame that there is so much other crap in our relationship blocking it out.
