there was quite the drama in the [livejournal.com profile] philadelphia community yesterday... some guy was trying to organize a protest of the upcoming "furry" convention there, something about it promoting bestiality and pedophilia. whatever dude, it's basically just a bunch of people who think they look cute in animal mascot costumes. swing dancing weekends are just as odd IMO, and there's more sex at one of those anyway (but not among the hard-core dancers... because they're too busy dancing 24/7 *chuckle*). darn post got so many replies (last i saw, it was over 500), one of the mods deleted it... not because it was getting too unweildy to track the responses, and see if there was anything in there that was against the rules... nope, the mod deleted it because he was sick of furries going on there and defending themselves. welcome to america, where you can't discuss your viewpoint if i don't like you.

speaking of REAL furries... monkey had chemo #3 yesterday. doing okay. down a pound (eek), but her white blood cell count is good and she's still fiesty. :) it was a fun day at the animal hospital yesterday, all sorts of things going on... there was a young couple there who were all excited to pick up their dog, and even for ME (the overprotective cat mommy) it was a bit much... then i found out the circumstances: they were on vacation in mexico last week, and saw this starving homeless dog wandering the streets... they fell in love with her instantly, and decided to bring her back to the US. after all the paperwork and hassle to get her here, and then the quarantining and shots and tests, they were finally taking her home... and when the dog walked out into the waiting room, she actually recognized them and gave both of them a huge slurpy smooch. everyone in the room was welling up with tears, it was so sweet. and they just kept hugging and smooching the dog, and taking each others' picture with her... that dog is going to have a wonderful new life. awwwwww.

then there was the massive boa constrictor (at least that's what i think it was... it was a BIIIIIG snake) that 2 girls brought in to be looked at. they went with one of the vets back into the emergency area, and as they walked by, this little teeny dog started yarping and growling like crazy at it. i was like, "dude, seriously... shut up... if that snake felt better, you'd be a snack in 2 seconds." cracked me the hell up.

have an awesome 4th weekend everyone... my bonus is here, the weather's gonna be gorgeous, and i have 3 days of BBQs ahead... good times.
