why haven't i seen this site before? the "a/v geeks" are a group of guys who have collected over 14,000 educational films from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. i was hoping to see a collection of them tonight at the local independent film house, but the showing's at midnight (dammit). but there are a bunch on their website for your viewing pleasure... and they are funny and odd and even a little unnerving. like "sudden birth", a police training video from the 50s... it shows officers what to do if a woman has to give birth before she gets to the hospital. somehow they actually managed to find a woman nuts enough to give birth ON CAMERA... and this woman is having her baby in the back of a chevy, with the camera rolling right up there, and a bunch of cops woodenly saying lines like "i've called an ambulance... now it's up to nature... and our little mother here."
