if you haven't seen this documentary, wow. put it on your netflix queue now, stop everything and just do it. if you haven't heard of it, it's about a scottish artist who has a more Eastern appreciation of nature, and channels that to create his art. he works with what he finds in a certain spot to create these amazing works that celebrate both the materials he's using and the surrounding landscape... fully knowing that, because of the nature of the materials and environment, the piece could be destroyed before he's even finished. for instance, in one scene, he spends an entire morning building a huge hollow cone made of stones on a rocky shoreline... only to have the whole thing collapse outward when he's halfway done. i can't even give it justice in my description... he's just a fascinating guy, and the stuff he makes is almost heartbreakingly beautiful. i mean, look at this: it's freaking icicles that he gathered and fused together.

that movie was the highlight of my afternoon. i took today off, because i just couldn't face putting on a suit and going out in the rain AGAIN. so i went to the gym, went back to bed for another 4 hours, watched that movie, and then got my nails done. MUCH better than work, i must say. :)

this is the last straw

Jenn,

I've been reading your LJ for a while now and I've had it. You're a great writer but you only post about your life and relationships. Who would want to read something about what's happening in someone's life? I like lists. Laundry lists are good. Maybe you could generate lists of words. That's compelling stuff.

If you didn't have people who liked you and interests you'd have no friends or hobbies. And if you didn't sell pharmacuticals, you'd have no job. Then where would you be? All you are is this person with friends and hobbies and a job and a family and pets, but if you take that all away, you've got nothing. You "shop" and "exercise" but really what are those things but acquiring goods in exchange for money and being physically active? You're so shallow. And you use make-up and hair dye and I'm pretty sure you shower regularly and use deoderant; what is your problem?

When I see your future, I see you older, heck in a decade you'll seem 10 years older than you do now. You'll be older, with pets and a TV and furniture and a stereo...and some shoes. And this paddle game....
