swingchickie | miracle of miracles...

the cats actually let me sleep this morning, thanks to the genius of the CatMate... i got one yesterday at the pet store because i'm just not getting a good night's sleep anymore... every morning for 9 years now, the older kitty wakes me up around 4am wanting to be fed, and she doesn't let up for hours until i get up. she'll knock stuff off of my dresser, push the answering machine buttons (let me tell you how terrifying it is to hear a male computerized voice go, "YOU HAVE NO NEW MESSAGES" AT 3AM)... one time she even knocked a picture off the wall. when she wants to be fed, she wants to be fed.

anyway, i put their food in it last night, closed the lids, and set the timer for the lids to open at 4am. woke up at 7am, refreshed, with 2 snuggly, happy kitties wrapped around my head... when i went into the kitchen, sure enough, the lids were open and the food had been eaten. genius. i'm so happy i could cry.

last night was freezing cold. seriously. the b.f. and i went out to a comedy club (one of his co-workers was doing a routine), and after only 1 minute outside looking for a cab after, i seriously thought i could die if we didn't get one soon. seriously, it was scary how painful the cold was. i'll write about the actual evening in another post, it was a really wierd night and i need more coffee before i can process it.
