what the...?
Apr. 15th, 2005 09:02 amcan i PLEASE schedule a vacation day without it going to compete hell??? last vacation day i took a couple of weeks ago, i slept most of the day because i wasn't feeling well and just physically could not stay awake. today, it's all sorts of little time-suckers and obstacles that are going to drive me nuts. first i had to schedule a vet appointment for 3:30 this afternoon, right in the middle of my day, because monkey's pulled teeth need checkin' and her doctor leaves for a 2-week vacation tomorrow. *sigh* then i found out yesterday that there's a work teleconference that i HAVE to be on at 11 this morning. so anything i want to do on my vacation day, has to be done between noon and 2:30. grrrr.
but the WORST is what happened to my morning plans. i was supposed to get up at 5 this morning (yeah i know, 5am on a vacation day is nuts) and drive down to plymouth for a few hours... my favorite boston radio station, star 93.7, was supposed to do a live broadcast from a shoe store there. so i was going to spend the morning shoe-shopping, seeing my favorite djs, entering a contest to win $937 worth of shoes, and singing karaoke on the air to win concert tickets. a co-worker of mine was going as well, and we were totally psyched to have some goofy fun early on a friday morning. EXCEPT, sometime yesterday afternoon, star 93.7 changed formats and became "mike 93.7" (stupid name). and, as is true when i worked in radio 10 years ago, it looks like all the djs have been booted, including the morning show, so there was no live remote from the shoe store today after all. and as is also true when these changes happen, there have been no live dj announcements on-air, nothing on their website, and no-one is answering the phone... it'll just be music and stuff to get listeners used to the new format, and then in the next couple of days they'll start to introduce new djs once everyone has stopped being so pissed off at the change in music. (oh yeah, the new format -- instead of being a funk/disco/pop station now, their tag line is "we play everything". so far i've heard everything from 80's hair bands to classic rock to pop. which is fine, but if i'm in the mood for a funk song, i don't want to wait through an hour of other stuff to get to it. grrrr!)
so, it's 9am, and somehow i have to salvage my time today. what can i do in the next 2 hours before my teleconference? *sigh*.
