swingchickiemy car decided to be a bitch yesterday. i met up with a co-worker at one of our hospitals around 10:30am... we were going to do a few sales calls, and then i had to drive to another hospital to go to a lunchtime lecture. i got there a bit early, caught up on e-mail, then we made the sales calls and headed back to the parking lot so i could drive to the lecture. i put my key in the ignition, and *clickclickclick*... no juice. i had to get someone to come out and give me a jump start, and i floored it to the other hospital in 8 minutes (which is screamingly fast), just before things got underway.
the rest of the day was uneventful, i finished out the afternoon's sales calls and went home to shower and dress from my date with D. i remembered i needed gas, so i left a few minutes early... and as soon as the attendant was done filling my tank, i went to start up the car, and *clickclickclick*. dammit. they gave me another jump, and there were no more car problems for the rest of the evening. i took it to the shop this morning, because my year-end review is tomorrow at 8:30 and i'd die if the car didn't start. turns out it's not just the battery, but the alternator and some belt-y thing that all had to be replaced. after sitting in goodyear for 2 hours (god, that was boring as hell), they told me the alternator has to be brought in from another town and the car won't be ready until this afternoon. so i got a cab home so i could do some office stuff, and now i just have to wait for them to call.
the date last night was really nice. we basically just had a great meal, a couple of drinks, and talked non-stop for 4 hours. it was a lot of fun. it was interesting, though... there was nothing romantic. no hand-holding, no compliments, no kiss goodnight. i drove him home after dinner, he said he'd like to see me again, and then opened the door and was gone. so i'm trying to figure out if that's just his style to move slow (which is okay), or if he sees me as more like an interesting new friend who he wants to hang with. hmmm. we'll have to see.
