swingchickie | kevin spacey is the shiznit.

tonight was the kevin spacey concert right down the street from my apartment. oh... mah... gawd. it was absolutely fabulous, in every way. his voice was amazing, he was incredibly cool and funny, and of course there was the hotness... oh, the HAWTness!

our seats were 3rd row in the balcony (i brought N, my old "friend with benefits", who behaved himself and didn't try too hard to hit on me, good boy), and it's a small theater, so we were soooo close to the stage. kevin had a 15-piece band and 2 backup singers, and everyone was all dressed up (he was in a tux, rrowrr). and without a lie, every song he did was amazing. and it wasn't just "ooh, he sings well for an actor"... he completely kicked ass. there were a couple of songs, like "my funny valentine", where i actually teared up a bit because his voice was so beautiful. and he did a fantastic version of "one more for my baby (and one more for the road)", the way bobby darin used to do it live... darin used to do the song as different famous actors of the day, because he was a fantastic impressionist. so kevin did the same thing, doing parts of the song as christopher walken, al pacino, even jerry lewis. his imitations were dead-on, and it brought the house down. he was having such a blast... he was absolutely beaming, and joking around with the audience, and he just looked so natural up there. i was actually a bit jealous, to think that with his career he's able to go, "hmmm, i think i'll do a month-long tour of a few cities and sing bobby darin stuff", and he sells out every venue and goes onstage to an audience of hundreds of people who worship him and hang on his every word. how cool is that.

towards the end, there was this little old lady in the front row who wanted his autograph. and as it happens, he started having mic problems, so while the engineer fixed it, he bent down at the edge of the stage and talked to the lady for a sec and signed a CD for her. it was really sweet. but when he stood up again to do his next song, she grabbed him by the hand and with superhuman strength for an octogenarian, YANKED him almost off his feet, back down to her level, and planted a huge kiss on him. the whole audience just completely fell apart. *chuckle*

so, they came out a bit dark 'cause of the lighting, but you get the idea...

wearing a red sox santa hat, doing his little white man's shuffle... he was really smooth most of the time, but during a few of the more rockin' numbers, his whiteness really came out. *grin*
