swingchickiewent to dance class last night for the first time in 8 months. i had planned to start up west coast swing classes last month, but the instructor had taken all of august off in order to prepare for a big labor day weekend dance event he was running. so i waited for him to come back -- he's a big nationally-known WCS teacher/performer/competition judge/etc, and i'd rather wait for him than take classes from the local person who's so-so. yesterday i called the studio to confirm that he was back now, and was told yes, so i made the hour-long drive to the studio for 2 back-to-back classes.
he never showed. after a few minutes of waiting, one of the students got a CD out of his car and the 6 of us social danced while we waited. 1/2 hour in, the studio finally reached him by phone, where he was like "oh, i thought it was assumed that i was taking a break until i said whether i was coming back or not". so not only did i waste an entire evening on 2 classes that never happened, but all those classes i've been banking over the last 8 months so that i could use them on double classes with this guy may be for naught.
sigh. grrrrrr. sigh.
