believe the hype.
Dec. 30th, 2009 06:41 am"avatar" is completely, stunningly gorgeous. so gorgeous that i actually had tears in my eyes several times as i was watching. we saw it yesterday in IMAX 3-D, and that was totally the way to see it because it was completely immersive. this is not one of those movies where you say to yourself "oh, i'll see it when it's on DVD"... to truly understand the stunning visuals of this movie, you have to see it this way. i think what i love best is that they didn't use the 3-D technology to do all the typical surprise stuff go "ooh, look, a bug is flying out into your face!"... instead it's used to just make you feel like you're there. and you really do -- every leaf on the trees, every drop of water when the ocean kicks up spray, is realized.
yes, i know there are themes in this movie that have been used before. get over it and just see the damn movie in the theater. it's worth it.
in other news, jack's kitties move in this weekend and i'm nowhere near ready. we have to take duck's former "quarantine room" and turn it back into a kitty-friendly suite for pumpkin and pusscat (right now it's filled with boxes of xmas decorations and power tools). but the hoop orders continue to roll in before our free shipping offer goes away, so that's taking all my free time during the day. we're going to have to do it tonight if it's going to get done in time. sigh. but i can't wait until they're all used to each other in a couple of weeks (and hopefully at least tolerating each other)... so many kitties in the house!!!! yay!!!!! my dreams of being a crazy cat lady are starting to come true. :)
