My one caveat would be - include a note offering to swap out a kid's hoop if the recipient wants. But definitely go with the adult size at first. People will have fun with it at the party.

i'm the only kid-less one on the team, which is why i thought the kid size would be good... and then could offer the swap of an adult size if they want one for themselves instead.

I'd still go for the adult size first. This way, the recipient may actually try it and like it. If you automatically give a kid's size, then you lose the opportunity to potentially create a new hoop enthusiast.

Plus - a gift for a kid is nice, but not really in the spirit of the Yankee swap. I know I'd be disappointed if I got a kid's gift (even if I had children).

One of the downsides would be gifting it to someone who doesn't really want it. But the chances of that happening with a gift exchange are high anyway as a lot of the gifts are well.... cheesy
But seeing as it's something you made people might look at it differently. People might overlook the cost and effort you expend in making them. People are odd, you know that

I don't know your coworkers. I personally would err on the side of caution. But if you think a large percentage of them WOULD like it as a gift then go for it!

But my only anti-hoop sentiment is that your hoops are worth more than $20. And if people like them, then they're going to wonder why you're charging $35+ for something you provided for $20 for earlier. I just think it's an opportunity for whining.
