i left my wallet at home by accident this morning. imagine my surprise when i reached for it at lunchtime and realized i had no lunch money. oops. this is one of those days that i'm glad i live so close to work... in 1 hour i can come home, nuke something to eat, rest my back for a few minutes (an unexpected plus -- it was starting to get really sore) and be back in the office in time for my next meeting.

MSNBC is showing live coverage of today's mccain and obama rallies. the mccain one is on at the moment, and it is so uncomfortable to watch, on so many levels. part of it is that mccain is not good at hiding strong emotion, be it anger or desperation or what have you... and he's up there in transparent desperation trying to talk up palin by saying "how about that sarah palin, isn't she great?" this woman is your VP pick and could be the next president, and that's the best you can do? "how about that sarah palin"? show us why she'd be a good VP, show us why she'd be a great president. you have 2 weeks left dude, you have to make a strong case for yourself. the other uncomfortable thing is the pro-obama protesters -- they won't stop interrupting the rally. sure, i don't like mccain, and i won't be voting for him. but he and his supporters have the right to have a rally without a bunch of screaming idiots interrupting his speech. it won't change anyone's minds, it's just a publicity stunt and just makes the rest of us look bad. if you want to turn people away from voting for mccain, do it in a productive way. sheesh.

on the other side of the coin -- michelle obama is filling in for her husband speech-wise at the democratic rally today, and she did a beautiful job. she just spoke, so there's no video up anywhere yet... but if you get a chance later today, try to find her speech online and take a look. i actually teared up at a couple of points.

back to lying down for a few more minutes... and perhaps i need to change the channel and stop watching politics.
