sunday afternoon randomness
Oct. 19th, 2008 03:10 pm* tomorrow is my official weekly weigh-in day for WW, and i can't wait. according to jack's scale this morning, i'm down almost 6 pounds. in the first week. i never lose weight that quickly, i'm pretty shocked... i know it'll start to slow down a bit (which is fine), but what a great jump-start! *happy dance*
* the slow cooker has been my savior for this first WW week... it's made it easier for me to eat home-cooked meals instead of getting takeout, and of course it's saved me quite a bit of cash -- i just came from the supermarket, and all of my food needs for the entire week came to $20. that's less than what i pay for lunch over 3 days at work. it's become like a little game for me to see what i can cook that's core-friendly AND will work in the slow cooker. i have a batch of split pea soup that just started (i know, i'm an addict) for my lunches, and before i go to bed i'll fill the crock with the ingredients for my dinner all this week. sweet.
* SNL has been nailing the political stuff over the last few weeks. i caught a video of last night's weekend update, where amy poehler did that sarah palin rap, and i literally laughed until i cried. and i have to say, even though i'd never vote for her, sarah plain actually sitting there and being a good sport about it was damn cool. i can't even imagine being a writer on that show, writing stuff that will skewer a person who's going to be sitting on the stage while it all goes down. they are so brilliant.
* what to do for the rest of the day, what to do... i could finally do the "summer-to-winter" clothing changeover, or i could sit and finish the book i've been working on for forever. hrm.

The opening skit was amusing, as well. Tina Fey and Palin were wearing exactly the same outfit. At first glance, a casual observer would have trouble telling them apart! If you can come across a clip of the opening segment, it's good for a look :)
