meetings, meetings...
Dec. 17th, 2003 06:26 ami know most people hate being in meetings for their jobs, i love 'em... i'm on my own all day, every day, so a meeting is a chance for me to see everyone and feel like i'm part of a team again. i have 2 meetings today, wahoo! so it'll be a good day. and i'm thinking of taking friday afternoon off to finish my xmas shopping... (i just can't seem to find anything for my dad and brother. blecch.) so all of that should make the week feel short. yay!
have to do one of my daily rants... yesterday i was at starbuck's, picking up some gound coffee and a few little stocking stuffers... and there was this woman i seriously wanted to smack. she ordered some sort of gingerbread latte thing while i was in line... and by the time i was at the register, her drink was done and she was ready to stand behind me and pay for it. but instead of getting in line behind me, she walked up to the register and STOOD NEXT TO ME. now, i am a BIG proponent of personal space. so i was NOT happy. she was basically one of those people who felt she was SO important, she could not take 2 extra seconds to approach the register... she had to be rung up the MOMENT i was done. so she stood there with her $100 haircut and her $800 burberry bag and her face full of department store makeup, and fidgeted and twitched for like a minute while i was being helped... and as soon as i'd paid, she leaned in and started to scootch me out of the way to pay for her coffee, not realizing that the clerk still had to get a couple of things for me. watching him correct her and make her wait more, was just priceless. made my day. *grin*
people, listen to me... you are NOT that important. give it up and do what the rest of us do -- wait in line patiently, don't barrel onto the highway without looking, etc. etc. just be a good citizen and stop stressing me out. K?

i'm an accountant at an engineering firm so our meetings are interesting but also fun. the gang is great
as for the personal space issue, that got my blood boiling. why do people think they have a right to do that. i feel like a freak when i say that people have no right to touch me. but i am not wrong for thinking that and neither are you. i try and avoid situations where there are too many people or be aware when i am in a public place. people are crazy.
i have a hip injury that is a daily issue. nothing is worse that having someone run into me or make me tense by standing too close cuz then i am worried they will bump me. i ranted about it HERE (http://www.livejournal.com/users/weezerthe1/7579.html?mode=reply). i had almost forgotten about that.
hope today is great!

Date: 2003-12-17 02:04 pm (UTC)people seem to think that because i am young and don't walk with a cane and usually don't limp , that i must be fine
i actually had one of the lacrosse parents walk by me one time and slap me on the ass (it was one of the moms)
now, i ask you... who is crazy enough to touch some almost-strangers ass? who does that in this day and age?
by time i had recovered from the shock and twinge of pain she had already walked by so i had a nice word with her later.
huh huh
