lesson learned last night:
Aug. 18th, 2007 10:56 amsex dwarf and hooping do not mix.
southstman was a doll for letting me bring
dhpdesign's hoop and one of my own to try them out on the dance floor... the plan was to play with them until the dance floor started to get crowded, then he'd hold them in the DJ booth for us. i got a few minutes of dance time in right after the club opened, it was just me and
dhpdesign in one corner of the floor and a couple all the way across the dance floor. plenty of room.
except when i started really getting into dancing, somehow during "halo" (the easiest move in hooping) it flew out of my hand and shot like a giant frisbee right in the direction of that other couple, sliding to a stop right next to them. *smacking forehead* i felt like such a tool.
needless to say, i apologized, scooped up my hoop, and didn't use it again for the rest of the night. so, the takeaway from this is: if you're hooping indoors with even one other person around, no off-body stuff.
and i don't think the documentary crew were there at that point, so i at least won't have to worry about that being captured on camera.
oh -- the rest of sex dwarf? freaking phenomenal. the "puppet karaoke" puppets sang up in the balcony, a Divine impersonator performed at midnight, and the music was so good i actually lasted until after 1am! walking home with the hoop was quite an experience, though -- south street was crowded, and everyone wanted to know what the hoop was for. "izzat a hula hoop?" "hey! can i see it?" "i'll giveyoo fi' dawlliz if you do it right here!" hee.

Date: 2007-08-18 06:08 pm (UTC)not to mention that the crowd didn't seem very receptive to the whole hooping thing to begin with... lots of eye-rolling and snickering to be had before you got there. figured i should quit while i was not-quite-ahead. :)
