shopping spree

swingchickietonight i dragged the boy to the mall, to help me try on dresses for the cruise. one of the evenings is formal dress, and lord knows i can't fit into any of the cocktail dresses in my closet. i tried on a bunch the other day, and was shocked that every single dress fit (normally ONE fits me, and that's the one i get by default)... so i was in the very odd position of having several choices, and not knowing which one to buy. hence the invitation to the mall -- i told the boy i'd buy him dinner if he helped me pick out a dress.
instead of the evening i expected, which would consist of me going "what do you think?" and him going "it's okay, i dunno" for every dress... he was an enormous help. he actually looked at the cut and fit of each dress, weighed the pros and cons of each, and even grabbed some off the rack that i hadn't tried on before (one was a size smaller than i'm used to, and the darn thing FIT). it was a blast.
the *real* fun came, though, when he got a little carried away in the racks, and started pulling hideous prom dresses for me to try on. nasty polyester skintight things in neon colors with cheap beading. *shudder* we were in hysterics as i came out, squeezed into these ugly things, to get critiqued.
me: wow, am i hot or what?
boy: eeeeeeee! that's a look, all right. as in, "don't make me look at it".
me: oh, come on! ain't i sexy? *preen*
boy: uh, yeah... you look like Marilyn Mon-NO!
i ended up buying one of the simple black dresses he found... but man, i am so tempted to go back and buy one of those hideous ones as a joke, and take it out of my suitcase on the cruise. he would jump off the balcony and swim for shore.
