going from "completely sedentary" to "pilates in the morning and salsa dancing in the evening" makes for a big OUCH the next day.

tried the salsa night at north by northwest last night. it was... interesting. i think i'd go again at some point (especially because it's 15 min. from me), but it just didn't have the best vibe for me. i did dance a bit, including 4 dances with this adorable little older black man with 2 earrings and a panama hat... there was a point though, where i was starting to really get into the music, and i thought, "oh my god, i'm shaking my booty and gyrating my hips at a man in his 70s!!!" hee!

and the lesson... oh my sweet baby jesus... the second lesson was so completely odd. the instructor was a doll, but she was NOT born to be a dance teacher. in most (okay, ALL) dance lessons, the instructor tells you what to do as they're demonstrating it: "turn to the left, put your foot here," etc... this girl didn't bother wasting time on that, her instruction was: "do this," (shows a step) "then do this," (shows a step) and do this (shows the end of the move). that was her instruction: "do this". and she'd show it *maybe* twice before having everyone do it. she was teaching partner turns and such, and the poor beginners had no idea which way to turn or where to put their feet. add to that the fact that the lesson was PACKED, and it was an equation for people slamming into each other left and right. total fiasco.

should i go salsa dancing late friday night? i'm tempted. i could go after my big awesome event, i won't be too far from brasil's... hrm. must ponder.
