am i the only one who's been freakin' EXHAUSTED lately? ever since i got back from the long weekend, i just walk around yawning all day. at night, i'm asleep by 9pm and sleep straight through until 5am.

i need to figure out some cheap social stuff to do for the next 30 days, without screwing myself out of a fun june. i need to save some major cash this month, with my closing costs looming (and the need to buy a fridge and lawnmower and all). being a responsible adult stinks -- i went to the mall for a little bit the other day, and couldn't justify buying anything. it used to be, i'd go to the mall and spend hours frolicking there, buying new work clothes and grabbing some dinner... now, everything i look at, i'm like "those $75 shoes could make me $75 short on my closing costs". (and i need new shoes. i just couldn't bring myself to do it until after the house is mine.) grrrrrr.

There's no cover at Cuba Libre, the cover for GRLZ at BRZL's is $5, and there's no cover at Rock Lobster if you're there for the lesson.

Just sayin'.

THis is exactly what happened to me after i got seperated and was on my own with the building.
I could NOT justify buying anything in case something major broke in the building.

I was used to buying whatever i wanted, whenever i wanted.

Now, i think twice about everything.

how much do you pay for the lesson at rock lobster? and when is there dancing at cuba libre?

there's a swing dance next saturday the 10th at the commodore barry club... the cover's $15 (eek), but if i don't go drinkin' and eatin' beforehand that's not too awful.

yup. as it is, on saturday i'm returning about $200 worth of clothes that i bought for the summer and haven't taken the tags off yet. i figure the cash is more important than having a more robust wardrobe. :)

The lesson is Free free free! And showing up that early also means paying no cover. The lesson is allegedly at 7:15pm on Sundays. They just switched to 7:15pm this year after being at 8:15 last summer, so the first lesson started an hour late when people actually showed up. The waiting-and-not-ordering thing could be a little awkward, if that happens again. But hey, one drink is still a cheap night.

Cuba Libre has salsa Friday and Saturday nights, starting quite late -- after eleven -- they roll up the upstairs tables and a big crowd comes in. It's free, but there's no lesson. A minimal dress code exists -- no boys in shorts, boys in jeans are fine, I assume something equivalent for women. I haven't been yet myself, I learned all this in five minutes when I went to investigate whether we should skip over there from Brasil's -- Jeremy's shorts disqualified us, and when we got back the sound system was fixed. (:

P.S. That's an Eleanor Saturday for me, otherwise I'd be all about finally giving a swing night a try. (There is some swing at the Thursday night dance parties at Society Hill, which are apparently now a requirement of my parole... er, lessons.)

Kudos to you for being so responsible!

I am exhausted because both I and my two children have been/are sick, we've had to buy a new dishwasher and car in the last two weeks and I'm feeling guilty the housework is being somewhat neglected.

This responsible adult thing is NOT easy!!

Good luck and I am impressed at the wise choices you are making. Many Americans would go into debt and not think twice about it.

well, i've been deeply in debt before, and it's not fun trying to get out. as it is, i'm going to have to get the fridge on a "no payments for a year" plan, which makes me nervous... so i don't want to dip into any credit just to close on the house!
