with my xmas shopping, that is. my manager, who RAWKS, left us a voicemail yesterday... her holiday gift to us is a personal day to use in the next few weeks! so of course, i immediately took it (today). it was a really productive morning -- did all my shopping, except for my dad and brother and a couple i'm best friends with. (if anyone has ideas of what to get a wealthy couple with kids who have "everything", let me know!)

last night was the nutcracker... it was a gorgeous production, i felt like a little kid watching it! I kept "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" in awe. i'm so glad we got tickets! it was great to sit with my friends as well, although it was a wierd sitauation with one of my girlfriends. she's been dating a guy for about 3 months now, and every time i see him, he just acts totally uncomfortable around me. he doesn't talk to me directly, won't make eye contact with me... he'll talk to my boyfriend, but not to me. i'm not sure exactly what i've done, i've never been anything but nice to him. i have a feeling that it's the difference in our personalities -- i'm a bit flamboyant sometimes, and he's quite dry. but there's no harm in being polite, for god's sake! when they were first dating, a bunch of us went out for dinner and drinks... at one point, i was having a conversation with someone down the table... and he just looked at me and said, "do you ever shut off?" i was horrified. i made a joke about it, because i didn't want to make a scene... but his comment was pretty hurtful, and ever since then i've been very sensitive to how he is around me. i'm happy my friend has found a guy she's in love with, but it's very hard to be around him when there's so much tension... all because, seemingly, i'm not his type. and obviously i can't bring it up with her, because all it would do is upset her and cause more problems. ick.

going dancing tonight. i can't wait, it's been too long! i really need to sign up for classes after the holidays... i've been dying to study with this one street funk teacher in the city... and perhaps a ballet class too (the nutcracker renewed my interest... haven't taken a ballet class since i was 16!).

off to take the baby kitty to the cardiologist. cross your fingers.

what an ass!

just because he has a different personality than yours is no excuse for rudeness
and that was rude

so now that we have all decided that he is the one with the problem, the situation is:
'how do i deal with him and his problem without it becoming MY problem?"
so just continue being you, and if he doesn't like it and decides to make anymore rude comments then he will just demonstrate further what a jerk he actually is
and until then continue being happy for your friend

hey, the world needs flamboyant people

Maybe he's in love with you.

I'm not joking.

Let's just say I've had issues along these lines with my buddy's girl.

I've resolved myself to not really becoming good friends with her, and occasionally being a little of a jerk.

it's funny, my boyfriend and i joked about that exact thing. but trust me, it's not that he's attracted to me, at ALL. my friend (his girlfriend) is totally his type... and i'm totally not... and if you were with us and saw the situation, you'd understand. i think he's just one of those people who, if he's not into someone, makes no real effort to hide it. but hey, i don't see him that much for it to be a real problem. if my friend is happy with him, that's what matters... as long as he's good to her, then it's cool.
