saw the brady bunch house this morning, and it is... PERFECT. oh. my. freaking. GOD. no lie, i walked in the front door and my eyes welled up with tears. it's IT. this house is so "it's 1965 in california and i live 2 blocks from the beach"... it's like the houses in all of the shag paintings i love, great open floor plan and soaring ceiling in the living room and the MOST BEAUTIFUL DECK OUT BACK FOR PARTIES and i want want want it NOW.

what's the catch? it went on the market yesterday, and there are already 3 offers on it. *brain exploding* mine, which i'm submitting tomorrow morning, will be the 4th. argh. my hope is that the other offers are a little under the asking price, so that if i offer what's listed (or even a teeny bit higher, i'm willing to go up to a few thousand more) i'll get it. the company that's selling it on behalf of the buyer will look at all the offers monday morning, so in a couple of days i'll know. until then, i have to keep from having a heart attack.

mom loves the place too (yes, i had her drive out for a second showing a few hours later)... she's threatening to out-bid me for it. *grin* she's saying a rosary right now... and all of you, if you pray to any kind of god in any form, put in a good word with him/her for me, ok?

oh, the rollercoaster that is house-hunting. you know i'll cross all sorts of body parts for you. one piece of unsolicited advice - is there any way for your realtor to figure out what the sellers are looking for in terms of closing dates, or anything else that could make your offer sweeter?

we lost a house to a lower bidder because they had the flexibility to give the sellers the closing date they wanted. we didn't even know that was a factor!

one more piece of unsolicited advice: this isn't the only house that you could love, and would love. it's SOOOOOOO hard to remember that when you're staring at what seems like the perfect house. there are more perfect houses, i promise. it all seems to end up working out for the best.

nevertheless, i'll be thinking of you. :)

thanks darlin. :) i know, there will be other houses if this one doesn't work... i pretty much told my realtor that if this falls through, she should just keep looking to see if any others on the same street go on the market. all the houses are pretty much the same, and the neighborhood is so lovely, it's just perfect there.

i took a nap just now and had a dream about the house. you were in it. you will die when i tell you what it was about.
