for my peeps who are business owners, and even those who aren't: how do you go about drumming up business? what are your thoughts on cold-call mailings, e-mails, etc?

reason i ask: if you looked at the new tailspinhoops.com, you probably saw that i'm trying out a wedding special this summer. i want to contact the philly-area wedding planners to let them know about it, but most of their websites don't list addresses to do a mailing... they only have an e-mail address to direct inquiries. sending out some e-mails would certainly be efficient, and i could include the link to the site for easy access... but i don't want to be seen as some nasty spammer.
