swingchickie: (booty bump)
thank you everyone who worked so valiantly to fix my evil computer problems. what i got from the threads here, plus folks at work and on apple tech support, was that even though *technically* leopard should have eventually worked on my computer... what i was doing was kinda like trying to put high-performance NASCAR race wheels on a schwinn.

so i bought a new computer instead.

i just got to a point last night, after being on the phone with apple support for 45 minutes and my computer still going "baroo?", where i had to force myself to wave the white flag. i've had my imac for about 6 years now, and have never upgraded the memory or the operating system... a lot has changed in 6 years, and now that i want to do something other than check my e-mail and play The Sims, i was shown just how outdated it is. it makes me so sad -- mine is the very first imac with the dome base, and i looove it... even after 6 years, i look at it and think it's hawt. even last night in the apple store, i was looking at the newer imacs and thinking, "mine is sexier". and of course, with a new roof being built this weekend and a kitchen to fix, opening up a line of credit for a computer made me pretty sick to my stomach. normally i loooove shopping, but this time it was out of necessity and not fun. i just have to keep reminding myself that i can close the credit line as soon as i get my first bill, and that it'll be paid off in just a few months. i'll be much hapier then.

so... i went portable this time and got a macbook. one of the snazzy black ones that's screamingly fast and can hold a ton of schtuff. i turned it on last night, and it calmed me down a bit by singing a little "hi! i'm your new computer!" song: "doo do doo, doo do doo..." it was very cheery (good job, apple). AND, what made me feel a MILLION times better: as i went through the setup, it said, "do you have an old mac that you want to transfer files from?" and i said "why YES i do!" and plugged in a firewire cable to connect them, and 45 minutes later my new computer had everything transferred over. that rocked so hardcore.

so, this weekend, while 4 guys rip off my roof, i will be holed up inside building a new website for tailspin. and by the end of the weekend, i should have a new roof and a new website all ready to go. yay!
