it's just too good not to share.
Aug. 23rd, 2007 05:39 amthere's a thread in the
davis_square community (and also now the
b0st0n community) that is totally giving me the lulz. this poor girl (and i don't mean "poor girl" in a true heartwrenching way, more like an "i'm watching lindsay lohan self-destruct again" kind of way) had the lack of brain cells to post to the davis community about opening a hair salon there. not just any salon, mind you... a chain called "Knockouts", which is basically a Hooters for haircuts -- scantily clad women cutting guys' hair in a sports-themed salon.
now besides the fact that the concept doesn't seem to be taking off anywhere (she bought a franchise even after learning that 120 franchises have been sold nationally, but only 9 of those salons are actually bringing in customers), this girl picked the absolute worst area to think about opening hers. davis square (my old neighborhood) is the exact opposite of Knockouts turf. if you really think that a community made of vegan, lesbian/TG/etc, co-op-living, poetry-slam-going artists is really going to flock to this type of hair salon, then WOW. then there's also the fact that they're very anti-chain as well (the local coffee shop does better business than the starbucks across the street). if you have even walked down the street once in davis square, blindfolded, you could tell that Knockouts would not be a knockout there.
so. i leave the links below as a gift to you, so you can understand the true joy of the biting boston sense of humor. snark and lolcats abound.

the second thread, when she actually took someone's advice that she post on the b0st0n community as well:
