sometimes it's the simple things.

on our very first date (the VERY first one, when we weren't sure if it was an actual date or just a hangy-outy thing), jack mentioned to me that he has an after-work summer ritual: "i hang out on my patio, mix a martini, put some frank sinatra on and grill." seriously, those words made me fall instantly in love with him.

last night i partook in the patio-grill-etc. thing at his place, and it was just a perfect evening. we had pink martini crooning out of the speakers, he made me a very strong gin and tonic with lots of fresh lime (it had been that kind of a day), and i lounged outside in the spring air while he grilled up some chicken and used it to make us a wonderful salad. it was the simplest date ever, and i loved it. that, combined with waking up to being snorgled by a fat fuzzy purring angus, has made me super-happy and relaxed this morning... which i'm sure will change as soon as i get in to work. heh.
