saturday night sing-y-ness
Dec. 3rd, 2006 10:36 amso, the blind date was not a disaster. dinner at pod was really fun, the restaurant is basically my austin powers room with a big budget. the whole restaurant is white and futuristic-looking, and there are bubble-shaped lights on the walls that glow and change colors every once in a while to change the atmosphere of the room... plus, groups can reserve one of the restaurant's "pods", a circular table area that's almost completely enclosed, and there are buttons on the wall that you can push to change the color of the interior of your pod. it's a scream. we tried just about every house martini on the menu -- the "yellow", the "red", "green", and "pink" -- and the food (asian fusion) was really really good. i will defnitely go back.
so, he didn't run screaming into the night (happy surprise), in fact, he not only paid for dinner (shocker), he also came with me to karaoke at moriarty's afterwards. moriarty's was a blast -- it was PACKED because people had been there watching the army/navy game, plus
boutell,
kemidra,
notshakespeare and a bunch of other fun people were there whoopin' it up. A (my date) jumped right up there to sing (very impressive), i croaked out a couple of songs (note to self: do not drink 3 martinis before karaoke!), and about 15 of us got up there and did the biggest rendition of "bohemian rhapsody" that bar has ever seen. oh -- and i got hit on by an impressively drunk guy at the bar -- at first i thought he was just being drunk and obnoxious and drink-spill-y (ooh, it's so HOT when a guy's lit enough to knock over a drink i'd just ordered)... but then at one point, when A was right there with his back turned, he grabbed my hand, started stroking my wrist with his fingers *gag*, and, NO LIE, did this totally austin powers rrrrrrOWrrrrrr-y, "oh behave"-y face and growled at me. sweet baby jesus.
anyway, besides drunk weird guy, it was a fun, FUN night. A and i IM-ed a bit when we each got home, and he said he'd like to go out again. yay! whether the "go out" is as friends or as a date, i dunno... but either way, he's super-cool and i'm glad we met. :)
ooh! and this afternoon is grillin' steaks with dad and the bro, and perhaps salsa or rockabilly tonight. whee! weekend!
