i miss hooooooome!!!!
Oct. 3rd, 2006 08:10 amworking in florida for a few days this week. at home it's in the low 80s and sunny, perfect convertible weather... what i'd give to be cruising around today! it's actually not too hot down here (high 80s), which is a pleasant surprise... i just wish this weren't a big work meeting, so i could put on a bathing suit and enjoy the pool before dinner. there *is* an arcade though, with a "pump it up" machine (w00t!), so i will be burning some calories jumping around like a maniac tonight. :)
this hotel is brand-new, only 2 weeks old. it smells new -- you walk in the lobby, and the scent of new carpet and paint just knocks you over. it's cool to think that only 1 or 2 people have stayed in my room before. i'm not a big fan of the golf-resort type of hotel, we're basically in the middle of nowhere with a big fat golf course surrounding the hotel... but i can see its appeal if you're a golfer. i'm really hoping to get the scoop on some west coast swing or salsa dancing while i'm here, i'm going to need to get away from the hotel for a few hours one night.
one little perk was that i got to fly down first class (they bumped me up because i'm a preferred member). the thing is, i don't really understand what you get for the extra expense. the seat's a bit bigger, but that's not a big whoop for me because my legs are too short... my feet were dangling like i was some 5-year-old in a booth at burger king. and you can have free alcohol, but all 8 of us in that section drank soda. and there was no meal, so it's not like we got better food. i dunno, i just don't get it. *shrug*
