vacation, all i ever wanted...

okay, well it's not a 3-day weekend, but i'll take it. going up to boston for an overnight, and i'm psyched. first i was going to go, then i wasn't, then my boss (who ROCKS) gave me a personal day for all the hours i've been putting in, so now i'm going. hey, it's J's housewarming celebration, it's worth the trip.

so this one's a quickie. drive up this morning, lunch at diva (katehaney, check your e-mail), drinks at the b-side with K. lunch at anna's tomorrow with J2, then the par-tay, then drive straight home from there so i can sleep some before musikfest. whee!

well, i should get in the car and go. perhaps i'll read LJ this afternoon from diesel... oh, won't that freakin' RULE... ooh, and i have the new douglas coupland book (yay!) for some coffeehouse reading as well... oh this is awesome. :)

*sigh*.

the old neighborhood is changing. middlesex bank now has an electronic marquee up, with entertainment news scrolling across it. mike's pizza installed accordion doors out front, so that all the booth-sitters now can eat their slices alfresco. and diva watered down their korma sauce and serves only a limited menu at lunchtime now. darnit.

but diesel is pretty much the same... the music is still awesome and the people are still cool. although as i sat there sipping my iced mocha chai, i couldn't help but feel like i wasn't a part of it all. in less than a year, i already feel like a bit of an outsider. and that's really upsetting. i've been in davis for 2 hours, and already i feel restless. maybe a couple of coconut mojitos at the b-side tonight will change that...

not helping matters any is the fact that T isn't coming out for drinks tonight. she was one of my best friends here in boston, but since i moved i haven't heard from her. it's like once i went to philly, i dropped off the face of the earth to her. the last time i came up here, she said she was coming out, and never showed... now she doesn't even return my calls. actually, several other friends are the same way... they wanted to hang out constantly when i lived here, but now that i'm in philly, they've closed the circle. people are so confusing.
