wow, salsa night was fun. seriously, i didn't just shake my bon-bon, i shook bon-bons that i didn't even know were in the BOX! this morning my butt, calves and back are so stiff! [livejournal.com profile] jeremym, [livejournal.com profile] boutell and i managed to get in part of the beginner lesson (i didn't even know there was going to be one... sweet!), and then we were turned loose on the dance floor... me the irish redhead in a sea of 5'4" mexicans with little pencil mustaches and 2 cups of gel in their hair. hee!

i had a ball, i danced with a bunch of people and didn't completely suck (well, at least, there were people there who sucked more than me). there was no mistaking i was white, because i just couldn't get my hips to move like everyone else's... but that'll come with a bit of practice. i'm totally going there on friday nights from now on, it was great exercise and awesome music and really nice people (except for the jerk who turned me down at the end of the night because he was tired, and then 30 seconds later asked someone else to dance... grrr).

now i just have to get some better dance shoes and practice that hip thing...

yesterday i was driving home from work, and was stopped at a red light, when i heard the 40-year-old woman in the car to my left (in the left turn lane):

her: excuse me...!
me: *roll down my window* um, yes?
her: i just had to tell you... i LOVE YOUR CAR!!!
me: *laughs* oh, thank you!
her: that is my DREAM car... i hope to get one when i grow up...
me: oh please honey... i haven't grown up yet! that's why i have the car!

*the two of us crack up as the light turns green and we drive off*

it was just this funny girly moment between 2 strangers... i'm totally giggling thinking about it!
