another night with only a few hours' sleep. last night the full-on dancing didn't start until almost 1am... i tried to hold out, but i was too tired. i'd gone home in the afternoon, napped and bubble bath-ed myself, and went all the way back to framingham thinking i'd be up dancing until 2 or so. but with all the competitions and performances scheduled so late, sitting there for a couple of hours made me fade. i did get in some dances between competitions, which was great. but it wasn't the late-night blowout i'd hoped for. and the bigger bummer is, at 1am, they STILL hadn't posted the list of finalists for today's competitions... so i have to drive all the way back today, not knowing if i'm even competing. at least there's a good choreography workshop to make the drive worthwhile. (3 different dance couples each choreographed a section of a routine, and we're performing it at the end of the day today.)

oh... and jordan and tatiana are fantastic coaches. i didn't do a private lesson with them (dammit, i always forget to sign up for privates at these weekends), but they scheduled a coaching session for last night. anyone who wanted could dance for them, and after only watching for about 30 seconds, they could pick out all this little technical stuff that's wrong with your dancing and fix it. it was fantastic. i didn't get a turn before we ran out of time, but i learned a ton from watching the other critiques. i wish they'd do this more at other dance weekends!

somehow i'm supposed to do my end-of-week work and clean the apartment, after dancing my butt off all day. eek. i'm so tired... the choreography class kicked my ass, we learned a minute and a half routine in just 3 hours and then i practiced it dozens of times to get it right before the performance. it was tough for an inexperienced crowd; out of almost 100 people who started the class, only 8 of us actually made it to the end to perform it. it went well though, only a few mistakes... so i'm looking forward to getting the DVD of the performance so i can see what it looked like. :)

i made it to the finals for the novice jack and jill competition (yay!), a huge surprise because there were some amazing gals in that division. but for the finals, i got paired with a guy who i don't connect well with... we danced once before in a competition, and for some reason i just don't get his lead. so my sucky follow dragged our performance down, and we came in last out of 6 couples. *sigh*. i'm sure he'll avoid me like the plague from now on.

on a whole, great weekend. good classes, great people, a few local rockstars actually asked me to dance, and i got complimented by a couple of the pros on my choreography class performance. yay! but now i have to come back to real life, watch a little "rock star: INXS", and work like a mo-fo.
