the light at the end of the tunnel
Sep. 19th, 2004 12:37 pm::crossing fingers:: so far, so good today in the tummy department. the on-call doctor never called me back yesterday (grrrrr), so i had to just hope that bland food would help... the saltines and gatorade really did help a bit, the pain and nausea went away by mid-afternoon and i actually had a semi-normal dinner (rice and a bit of roast pork from my fave place down the street). everything stayed down, so i got a bit cocky around 9pm... i was craving something sweet, so i had a couple tablespoons of chopped walnuts drizzled with honey. BIG mistake. by 11pm i was writhing in pain, crying. so, note to self... no nuts for a long time. managed to fall asleep around 1am, and by the time i awoke at 6am the pain had gone away again. so i had some tea and saltines, hopped back in bed, and slept until noon (which is something i haven't done in years).
i woke up tired and weak, but happy. monkey was hunkered down in the crook of my arm, arm across my chest and purring... the sun was shining, and there was a beautiful breeze coming in the window. and so far, no pain today. so i'm gonna shower, clean up this pit of an apartment, and venture out for a couple of hours to enjoy this gorgeous fall day.
