mysterious cuts and abrasions

the ex and his brother have a running joke, that they should do a coffee-table book called "mysterious cuts and abrasions". it would be full-page photos of the random little nicks and scratches that you get on your body, but you don't know how they got there.

while i do think the idea is incredibly cool, this morning in the shower i noticed two of my own that have me quite unnerved. on the back of each leg, on each calf, is a 1-inch long scratch. the unnerving thing is, they are completely symmetrical... same exact spot on each calf, same height, everything. and they're scabbed over, which means they happened a couple of days ago without my even knowing (and that i should have felt them, if they were deep enough to form a scab!).

the only thing i can think of is, i was abducted by aliens who needed a skin sample. any other ideas?

...up only 1 pound! WA-freakin-HOO!

oh, i am SO relieved. after 3 weeks of no weigh-ins, no writing down my food choices, and eating too much no-no stuff, i expected to be up at least 5. but one... well, heck, i can take that off within a week! i guess i was more active than i'd realized, between walking around philly last week and being in the city this week. and i did snack a lot on healthy stuff, like grapes and pineapple. but wow. *huge happy sigh*

i actually ended up braving the mall this morning, since i had an hour to kill before my facial. it wasn't too awful, i guess because it was only 9:30am. the apple computer store was MOBBED, and they had actually opened at midnight last night for the sales tax holiday. there were 2 lines that snaked around the store, mostly parents getting computers for their college freshmen. i was going to buy an iMic (i think that's what it's called) so that i could convert some of my old tapes to MP3s, but after standing in line for 1/2 hour, i figured it wasn't worth the $1.50 i'd save on the tax... so i gave my spot up. did walk out of the mall with an adorable fall suit, though... black with cream pinstripes, a pencil skirt with little kick-pleats in the back... rrrowrrr.

and the facial was divine, as always. i came back home so relaxed, i napped for 2 hours. *chuckle* now i have to rally up some lunch, and do my nails. having the day to myself is so much fun!

ps. note about my lunch today... was supposed to have lunch with an old friend, the former friend-with-benefits who got back in touch with me... last week he made the lunch offer, and i told him that lunch would be nice but that there'd be no foolin' afterwards. he was like, "oh, that's fine, don't be silly, it'd just be nice to catch up, i'll call you this week to figure out a time for saturday." and then he never called. surprise, surprise. *chortle*
