night to myself...

i was supposed to go to a playwright's thing tonight with the b.f., but i just couldn't drag myself out of the apartment. too tired and too much work to do. so i'll have the place to myself for a few hours, which is cool.

last night was a lot of fun! went to karaoke with one of my friends from work. we didn't get to sing, 'cause it took us an HOUR AND A HALF to go through the song book (it was huge... 6 pages of elvis alone!), and by the time we got to the last page, the roster was full for the night. but it was a fun place... the milky way is a really cool, kitchy underground lounge with a few bowling lanes in it. they make some killer cocktails, and everyone there was so NICE! like seriously, random people were making conversation with us (very unlike most of boston, where everyone is cold to one another).

the coolest thing was that last night was a theme night for the karaoke... "1980s prom night". everyone came dressed in really bad 1980s formal wear, with hair a mile high, fake mohawks, etc... the whole place was decorated with streamers and stuff... and everyone sang songs from the 80s. there was even an area with a big decorated arch, where you could get your prom picture taken by a professional photographer. it was a scream!

of course the b.f. cringed when i came home and told him about the night. add "silly karaoke night" to the list of things he'll never do with me...

i'm dreading valentine's day. *sigh*
