so THAT'S what it feels like to get a decent nights' sleep.

i've spent the last 2 and 1/2 years in this apartment, with no AC in my bedroom. which especially sucks because it's on the top floor of my building, so it traps the heat all day. but an AC unit would be hard to do in my room... my windows are huge, so i'd be left with a big gap on either side of the unit for hot air to get inside... plus the thought of spending like $400 on one, when i already shelled that out for the one in the living room, seemed excessive. so i spend every night with a fan next to my face, but i still toss and turn because all it does is blow the hot air around.

so, yesterday, it was 94 degrees in boston. and i'm guessing D was envisioning another night of sweating his butt of in my room (and not in a good way). so he looked online and found out that sears was having an air conditioner sale... i could get a 5150BTU (we have to have low BTU 'cause it's an old building) for $80. plus it's the annual tax-free weekend in MA, so i'd save a few tax bucks as well. my local sears had some in stock, so we hightailed it to the mall, got the AC, and installed it in one of my windows... then, to seal the big gap in the window, i cut a piece of the styrofoam packing down to size, and wedged it in there between the AC and the window frame. worked perfectly.

so last night, i slept in a freezing cold bedroom. whee! i totally owe D for pushing me to do it!
