a rant and a gloat
Jul. 17th, 2005 09:03 pmRANT: a young mother was in my row with her 3 small children when i went to see "charlie and the chocolate factory" today. the theatre was packed to the gills, especially 'cause it was a 3pm showing so it was full of kids. the one little boy, 3 years old, just wouldn't sit down... every time his mom tried to put him in his seat, or on her lap, he'd squeal and squirm and make a scene. so the mom just let him wander around, and at one point he must have smacked a woman's head in the row in front of him (i'd seen him gripping the seats in front of him as he walked around)... the woman turned and whispered to the mother to please get her child to sit... and instead of apologizing, the mother shouted at the top of her lungs, "WHAT DO YOU CARE IF A 3-YEAR-OLD TOUCHES YOU?!?!? IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE TOUCHED BY A CHILD, DON'T GO TO A 3PM MOVIE!!!!!" and then ranted some other stuff i couldn't make out because she was being so shrill. it just amazes me that she would think that people around her would be fine with her kid running around like a lunatic, ruining their movie experience. *sigh* another reason for me to hate the general public.
GLOAT: after the movie, driving home, we made a right-hand turn at an intersection and almost got clobbered by an SUV squealing through from the other direction. not only was the driver an aggressive jackass, but his left turn into our lane was illegal (there's a no-left-turn sign). as soon as we swerved away from him, we caught a beautiful sight: SUV-guy getting pulled over by the cops for his little maneuver. *grin* absolutely made my night!
