another awesome weekend! god, i am so happy we've been having great weather... my mood totally changes as soon as the temps get above 50. yesterday it was almost 60, so D and i went to cape cod for the day... i haven't been there since i moved to boston 2 years ago, and i miss it so much... so D tagged along as i went to some of the places i loved when i worked there. first we went to Box Lunch, a chain of cape fast-food places that does awesome wraps (the "humpty dumpty" kicks ass: egg salad, cheese, lettuce, tomato and BACON. *drool*)... we grabbed a couple of sandwiches and headed to Coast Guard Beach (which is towards the outer, skinny part of the cape) to have lunch. it was a little cold with the ocean breeze going, but i didn't care... we just found a remote patch of sand, hunkered down and snuggled up together to keep warm, and ate our sanwiches and talked as we looked out at the water. it was absolutely beautiful, and i always feel so at peace when i'm by the water with my bare toes in the sand. *happy sigh*.

when we couldn't take the cold anymore, we gathered our stuff and headed down to hyannis for the afternoon. a lot of main street shops were still closed for the winter, but we managed to find some cool old bookstores to browse in. i scored a major find... one of the bookstores we went in had a HUGE collection of old hardy boys and nancy drew books, which i've wanted to start collecting 'cause i was obsessed with them in grade school... so i bought my favorite one of each to start out: "the disappearing floor" (hardy boys), and "the clue of the dancing puppet" (nancy drew). oh, i am SO excited! after walking the entire length of main street, on the way back to car, we spied an arcade that hadn't closed yet for the day... and we giddily ran in there and bought a boatload of tokens. D kicked my ass at a car racing came and several shoot-y ones, and he actually had fun trying DDR (quote after: "if we're ever in a situation where i have to dance to save the universe, we are SO fucked.").

by the time we left the cape, it was 7pm and i was totally wiped out. between all the walking, the sea air, and my hell workout at 8 that morning (where i decided to be really tough and buff and add even more reps every time the trainer said "just two more"), i was a puddle of goo. i managed to stay awake through dinner at a mexican joint in plymouth... but by the time we got home, all i could muster was a bubble bath for my sore muscles and then i was out like a light. and i'm still tired -- D's at softball practice now, and i should be catching up on work before he comes back, but i'm just puttering around like a zombie. hehe somehow i need to rally and enjoy what's left of this gorgeous day!

PS. how to tell if a guy loves you, even if he doesn't say it: when you're about to get into bed, and you discover that one of your cats has peed on the comforter to get you back for being gone for 14 hours... instead of retching or going "eew" or getting peeved... he gives you a big hug, helps you strip the bed, and even turns over the mattress for you... helps you make the bed with fresh sheets... and offers you all of the quarters in his car to do your laundry in the morning, before climbing into the bed and smooching you goodnight. awwwwwww.
