what are you doing wednesday through friday night this week?

well, cancel it. and then watch "clash of the choirs" on NBC. it is so. much. fun. it's like "american idol" meets "sister act" -- 5 music stars who each put together a choir from people in their hometowns, and the choirs are competing this week to win $1 million to give to charity.

the great thing is, these are real people. yes, they can sing, some REALLY well. but they are all shapes and sizes, all ages, and they're up on stage singing their hearts out and having a blast. and their stories are so touching -- one girl who auditioned for kelly rowland's choir survived hurricane katrina, and the only thing she saved was her iPod... kelly let her in the choir, and she broke down in tears, and i became a total mess.

all i have to say is: philadelphia gospel choir COACHED BY PATTI LABELLE. holy CRAP.

seriously, watch this show... it's only on this week (the winning choir will be announced on friday). it's a blast.

Team Patti was definitely the best. Team Destiny's Child was our other favorite.

Team Bolton sucked. It wasn't their fault; I blame Michael "I Have My Shirt Unbuttoned To My Waist Even When Rehearsing My Choir" Bolton for having his choir basically be a solo act with a bunch of background singers. I bet they're going home first.

Team Boyband was good, but I think it was a poor song choice - it just didn't have the same energy that some of the others did.

exactly... i think team bolton's "lead singer" was good, but i was surprised they gave him so much of the song. kelly rowland was having a blast spinning around as her group sang, which was fun to watch. but patti... DAMN. i almost wanted to start going to church again! and these aren't even religious songs! (well, hers kinda was.)
