R.I.P, KK

about a year ago, a krispy kreme opened up in PA a few miles from where my parents live. i went there once 'cause, well, it's krispy kreme *drool*, and i was amazed at how quiet the place was. hardly any customers. i figured it was the location -- along a lonely stretch of highway, that had a median in the middle so you have to go way out of your way to make a jughandle turn to get there. (why did the franchises all pick crappy locations when they expanded? it's the same here in MA.)

anyway, the other day my dad was out driving, and had a hankerin' for a donut. he remembered my raves about krispy kreme, and so he drove down there to get one and a cup of coffee. it was 3pm. he went to open the door, and it was locked... then a guy appeared from inside, unlocked the door, and handed my dad a bag with 2 dozen donuts inside, saying, "we're closing up, these are for you." "for the day? it's 3pm" my dad asked... "for good", the manager replied... "those are the last of our donuts. enjoy."

so my dad's first KK experience, was eating the last 2 dozen donuts there. how sad. what's almost as sad is that he didn't know to microwave them for a few seconds... i had to school him so he'd really have the full experience.

*sigh*.
